Achoo

Well, it's happened again and I have another sneeze song.

If you're not Alexis, you might not understand this phrase of mine. You see, a couple of years ago we were listening to another one of these songs repeatedly and decided that pressing the back button could be explained by sneezing. As in "whoops, sneezing made me listen to this song so many times that I've memorized not only the words, but the chord progressions and where the singer takes a breath). The latest sneeze song is "Sometime Around Midnight" by Airborne Toxic Effect. Welcome song, you join a long line of glorious others.*

*Other sneeze songs include, but are not limited to "Upside Down" by Barenaked Ladies, "Casimir Pulaski Day" by Sufjan Stevens, "Passing Afternoon" by Iron & Wine, "The Quest" by Bryn Christopher, "Such Great Heights" by Postal Service and "Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap*

A couple of things have happened since I've written. First I chopped a little over eight inches of my hair off...Which reminds me that I need to take the plastic bag of hair off my mantle and actually send it in to be donated. Depending on who you ask, my hair cut makes me look older, younger or more like my sister. It feels a lot better than the limp mess my hair was, whatever it makes me look like.

Tim and I are now new car owners. It's actually Tim's car, but I'm going to take a little credit for it too. We spent about eight hundred years in the car dealership yesterday and now have a Honda Civic. It's an automatic, which makes me happy but makes Tim a little sad because he wanted a manual (and was told there would be a manual of that model there, which there wasn't, but they gave us a pretty good discount since they messed up) and I also like that no part of it has duct tape on it either. I made sure to steal as much as I could to help right that wrong, including a bottle of water, a juice box, a tea bag, and some hot chocolate while I was there. I was tempted to take a box of paper clips as well, but figured I should draw the line at taking things that were actually free. I'm lucky my purse is so large.

Dust Bunny

I think picking things out of the keyboards at work is my ultimate stress relief. It's somewhat disgusting, but I'm very satisfied when I can get a giant dust ball out from between the keys. The keyboard at my computer is picked dry, but I moved to one outside of our office (my computer was malfunctioning and there was a huge amount of negative energy in the office) and it is like a goldmine. I should come out here with a bent paper clip more often.

Dustball jackpot!

God, I love the possibly gay infectious disease doctor. He's older and has that stereotypical voice. It's like Tim Gunn started talking about bacteria and viruses. It's almost as entertaining as picking the dust out of the computer. Which is obviously a very big compliment. I like it out here where there's far less complaining.

Cold As Ice

It's butt cold in here. I turned up two of our radiators and instead of those going up, the one in the computer room started hissing like it was spraying water all over the room. Fortunately it's been all talk so far, but this apartment's heating system is like a menopausal woman. It goes from boiling hot to extremely cold in zero flat. Well, I'm taking the passive aggressive route by having tea and being a blanket burrito. Wow, if only I had a Snuggie right about now. Then I'm sure I would be at a perfect temperature without dollar signs pouring out of my thermostat (or really, my landlord's thermostat). The only way that commercial could be better is if it was narrated by Billy Mays (of Oxyclean fame).

Today the parents of the 21 year old who died two weeks ago came up to the floor. They came to bring all of us this huge basket of chocolates. These are two people who lost their only child two weeks ago and they're the ones bringing us food? Sometimes the strength and kindness of people just amazes me.

Oh great, a literal cat fight just broke out on my lap. Time to separate them and ride the elliptical. More news tomorrow.
